The reason I like CE so much is because while CE seems to borrow similar AI patterns, we still haven’t solved CE yet, and I find the high score chase much more compelling in that game compared to the original Pac-Man.īut again, at the end of the day, I think it will ultimately come down to your personal opinion since again, those two games are very different from each other. I do think the og Pac-Man has better aesthetics and arguably a stronger core gameplay loop, but the fact that the game is solved makes the whole thrill of chasing higher and higher scores not as compelling for me on a personal level compared to something like Tetris where new discoveries and optimizations still continue to pop up. Consider this the starting machine price to which you. Whereas with the original Tetris, because the randomizer for the pieces is for the most part entirely random, then Tetris still has potential for improvements to high level play, making it a more interesting game to follow at high level than PAC-MAN. This Ms Pac-Man looks really nice and clean, has an LCD/LED monitor, and is budget priced at only 1195. We already technically know the highest score possible in the original Pac-Man, and since ghost AI patterns are all determined by Pac-Man’s movement, we pretty much have reached the highest potential that the original Pac-Man will have in terms of chasing/obtaining that high score. (I’m assuming we are referring to the original release of PAC-MAN on arcades vs the Gameboy/NES iterations of Tetris in this case)Īs I’ve said, I think comparing both is kinda dumb since fundamentally, a maze game is very different from a puzzle game, but I think the thing that sets the two apart is how much of a solved game they are at the highest level.
